Son principe de fonctionnement et la construction des cellules sont presque identiques \u00e0 ceux des types de batteries lithium-ion (LIB), mais remplacent le lithium par du sodium. <\/h4>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4b7611a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4b7611a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Les batteries sodium-ion repr\u00e9sentent une alternative potentielle aux technologies \u00e0 base de batteries lithium, principalement en raison du co\u00fbt plus faible du sodium et de sa meilleure disponibilit\u00e9. Puisque les SIB utilisent des mat\u00e9riaux abondants et bon march\u00e9, on s\u2019attend \u00e0 ce qu\u2019ils soient moins co\u00fbteux que les LIB. Les impacts environnementaux des SIB sont \u00e9galement plus faibles. Bien que les SIB soient plus lourds et plus volumineux que les LIB, ils sont r\u00e9alisables pour les syst\u00e8mes de stockage d\u2019\u00e9nergie stationnaires o\u00f9 le poids et le volume sont moins cruciaux.   <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c255a2f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c255a2f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Les SIB ont suscit\u00e9 un int\u00e9r\u00eat acad\u00e9mique et commercial dans les ann\u00e9es 2010 et 2020, principalement en raison de la r\u00e9partition g\u00e9ographique in\u00e9gale, de l\u2019impact environnemental \u00e9lev\u00e9 et du co\u00fbt \u00e9lev\u00e9 de nombreux mat\u00e9riaux n\u00e9cessaires aux batteries lithium-ion. Les principaux parmi eux sont le lithium, le cobalt, le cuivre et le nickel, qui ne sont pas strictement requis pour de nombreux types de batteries sodium-ion. Le plus grand avantage des batteries sodium-ion est l\u2019abondance naturelle de sodium. Les d\u00e9fis \u00e0 l\u2019adoption des SIB incluent une faible densit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9nergie et des cycles charge-d\u00e9charge insuffisants.   <\/p><p>En 2022, les batteries sodium-ion n\u2019\u00e9taient pas encore devenues commercialement significatives, mais cela pourrait changer lorsque le plus grand fabricant mondial de batteries a annonc\u00e9 le d\u00e9but de la production de masse des SIB en 2023. Cette technologie n\u2019est pas mentionn\u00e9e dans un rapport de la United States Energy Information Administration sur les technologies de stockage par batterie. De plus, aucun v\u00e9hicule \u00e9lectrique n\u2019utilise de batteries sodium-ion&#8230; pas encore.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-182b3a9 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"182b3a9\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-455868b\" data-id=\"455868b\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bff7462 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bff7462\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>L&rsquo;histoire<\/h2><p>Le d\u00e9veloppement des batteries sodium-ion a eu lieu dans les ann\u00e9es 1970 et au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1980. Cependant, dans les ann\u00e9es 1990, les batteries lithium-ion avaient un potentiel commercial plus d\u00e9montr\u00e9, ce qui a fait baisser l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat pour les batteries sodium-ion. Au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 2010, les batteries sodium-ion ont connu une r\u00e9surgence, principalement gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019augmentation du co\u00fbt des mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res pour batteries lithium-ion.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-6cd7ea5 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"6cd7ea5\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-0b4dd04\" data-id=\"0b4dd04\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a08ef98 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a08ef98\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><strong>Principe de fonctionnement<\/strong><\/h2><p>Les cellules SIB sont constitu\u00e9es d\u2019une cathode \u00e0 base d\u2019un mat\u00e9riau contenant du sodium, d\u2019une anode (pas n\u00e9cessairement \u00e0 base de sodium) et d\u2019un \u00e9lectrolyte liquide contenant des sels de sodium dissoci\u00e9s dans des solvants polaires protiques ou aprotiques. Lors de la charge, les ions sodium se d\u00e9placent de la cathode vers l\u2019anode tandis que les \u00e9lectrons circulent dans le circuit externe. Lors de la d\u00e9charge, le processus inverse se produit.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-6e80a6f elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"6e80a6f\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-9e45808\" data-id=\"9e45808\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e9487e3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e9487e3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><strong>Mat\u00e9riaux (anodes, cathodes et \u00e9lectrolytes)<\/strong><\/h2><p>En raison des propri\u00e9t\u00e9s physiques et \u00e9lectrochimiques du sodium, les SIB n\u00e9cessitent d\u2019autres mat\u00e9riaux que ceux utilis\u00e9s pour les LIB.<\/p><h3><strong>Anodes<\/strong><\/h3><p>Les SIB utilisent du carbone dur, un mat\u00e9riau carbon\u00e9 d\u00e9sordonn\u00e9 constitu\u00e9 d\u2019un carbone non graphitisable, non cristallin et amorphe. La capacit\u00e9 du carbone dur \u00e0 absorber le sodium a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couverte en 2000. Cette anode a montr\u00e9 une puissance de 300 mAh\/g avec un profil potentiel inclin\u00e9 au-dessus de \\u20120,15 V <em>par rapport<\/em> \u00e0 Na\/<sup>Na+<\/sup>. Il repr\u00e9sente environ la moiti\u00e9 de la capacit\u00e9 et un profil potentiel plat (un plateau potentiel) en dessous de la valeur de Na\/Na<sup>+<\/sup>.<em> Les anodes en graphite pour les LIB offrent des capacit\u00e9s typiques de 300 \u00e0 360 mAh\/g. La premi\u00e8re cellule sodium-ion utilisant du carbone dur a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9montr\u00e9e en 2003 et a montr\u00e9 une tension moyenne de 3,7 V lors de la d\u00e9charge. Le carbone dur est pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9 en raison de son excellente combinaison de capacit\u00e9, de potentiels de travail (plus faibles) et de stabilit\u00e9 en cycle.<\/em>      <\/p><h3><strong>Cathodes<\/strong><\/h3><p>Les cathodes sodium-ion stockent le sodium par intercalation. En raison de leur densit\u00e9 de prise \u00e9lev\u00e9e, de leurs potentiels de fonctionnement \u00e9lev\u00e9s et de leurs grandes capacit\u00e9s, les cathodes \u00e0 base d\u2019oxydes de m\u00e9taux de transition de sodium ont attir\u00e9 la plus grande attention. Pour maintenir les co\u00fbts bas, la recherche tente de minimiser les \u00e9l\u00e9ments co\u00fbteux tels que le Co, le Cr, le Ni ou le V. Un oxyde de type<sub>P2 Na 2\/3<\/sub>Fe<sub>1\/2<\/sub>Mn<sub>1\/2<\/sub><sub>O2<\/sub> provenant de ressources terrestres abondantes en Fe et Mn peut stocker de mani\u00e8re r\u00e9versible 190 mAh\/g \u00e0 une tension de d\u00e9charge moyenne de 2,75 <em>V, contre<\/em> Na\/<sup>Na+<\/sup> utilisant le couple redox Fe<sup>3+\/4+<\/sup> \u2013 \u00e9quivalent ou meilleur que les cathodes lithium-ion commerciales telles que LiFePO<sub>4<\/sub> ou<sub>LiMn 2<\/sub><sub>O 4<\/sub>. Cependant, sa nature carente en sodium a r\u00e9duit la densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique. Des efforts importants ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s pour d\u00e9velopper des oxydes plus riches en Na. Les mat\u00e9riaux cathodiques Na<sub>0,67<\/sub>Ni<sub>0,3\u2212x<\/sub>Cu<sub>x<\/sub><sub>Mn 0,7<\/sub><sub>O2<\/sub> substitu\u00e9s par le cuivre ont montr\u00e9 une grande capacit\u00e9 r\u00e9versible avec une meilleure r\u00e9tention de capacit\u00e9.      Contrairement \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9lectrode sans cuivre Na<sub>0,67<\/sub>Ni<sub>0,3\u2212x<\/sub>Cu<sub>x<\/sub>Mn<sub>0,7<\/sub><sub>O2<\/sub>, les cathodes substitu\u00e9es par le Cu telles que pr\u00e9par\u00e9es offrent un meilleur stockage du sodium.<\/p><p>La recherche a \u00e9galement examin\u00e9 les cathodes bas\u00e9es sur les polyanions. Ces cathodes offrent une densit\u00e9 de tap plus faible, r\u00e9duisant la densit\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9nergie en raison de l\u2019anion encombrant. Cela peut \u00eatre compens\u00e9 par la liaison covalente plus forte du polyanion, qui a un impact positif sur la dur\u00e9e de vie et la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 du cycle. Parmi les cathodes \u00e0 base de polyanions, le phosphate de sodium vanadium et le fluorophosphate ont d\u00e9montr\u00e9 une excellente stabilit\u00e9 au cycle et, dans ce dernier, une capacit\u00e9 acceptable \u00e9lev\u00e9e (\u00ab mAh\/g) \u00bb \u00e0 des tensions moyennes de d\u00e9charge \u00e9lev\u00e9es (\\u20123,6 V <em>vs<\/em> Na\/<sup>Na+<\/sup>).   <\/p><h3><strong>\u00c9lectrolytes<\/strong><\/h3><p>Les batteries sodium-ion peuvent utiliser des \u00e9lectrolytes liquides et non liquides. La fen\u00eatre de stabilit\u00e9 \u00e9lectrochimique limit\u00e9e de l\u2019eau entra\u00eene des tensions plus faibles et des densit\u00e9s \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques limit\u00e9es. Les solvants aprotiques polaires esters carbonat\u00e9s non liquides prolongent la plage de tension. Celles-ci incluent le carbonate d\u2019\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne, le carbonate de dim\u00e9thyle, le carbonate de di\u00e9thyle et le carbonate de propyl\u00e8ne. L\u2019\u00e9lectrolyte non liquide le plus utilis\u00e9 utilise l\u2019hexafluorophosphate de sodium comme sel dissous dans un m\u00e9lange de ces solvants. Compar\u00e9es aux batteries lithium-ion, les batteries sodium-ion ont un co\u00fbt l\u00e9g\u00e8rement inf\u00e9rieur, une densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique l\u00e9g\u00e8rement inf\u00e9rieure, de meilleures caract\u00e9ristiques de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et des caract\u00e9ristiques de livraison de puissance similaires. <\/p><p>Le tableau ci-dessous compare la performance g\u00e9n\u00e9rale des
