Het werkingsprincipe en de celconstructie zijn bijna identiek aan die van lithium-ion batterijtypes (LIB), maar vervangen het lithium materiaal door natrium natrium. <\/h4>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4b7611a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4b7611a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Natrium-ion batterijen zijn een potentieel alternatief voor batterijtechnologie\u00ebn op basis van lithium, vooral vanwege de lagere kosten en grotere beschikbaarheid van natrium. Aangezien voor SIB&#8217;s overvloedige en goedkope materialen worden gebruikt, zullen zij naar verwachting minder duur zijn dan LIB&#8217;s. De milieueffecten van SIB&#8217;s zijn ook geringer. Hoewel SIB&#8217;s zwaarder en groter zijn dan LIB&#8217;s, zijn zij haalbaar voor stationaire energieopslagsystemen waarbij gewicht en volume minder cruciaal zijn.   <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c255a2f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c255a2f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>SIB&#8217;s kregen in de jaren 2010 en 2020 academische en commerci\u00eble belangstelling, vooral vanwege de ongelijke geografische spreiding, de grote milieueffecten en de hoge kosten van veel van de voor lithium-ionbatterijen benodigde materialen. De belangrijkste materialen daarvan zijn lithium, kobalt, koper en nikkel, die voor veel soorten natrium-ionbatterijen niet strikt noodzakelijk zijn. Het grootste voordeel van natrium-ion-batterijen is de natuurlijke overvloed aan natrium. Uitdagingen voor de toepassing van SIB&#8217;s zijn onder meer de lage energiedichtheid en onvoldoende laad- en ontlaadcycli.   <\/p><p>In 2022 waren natrium-ion batterijen nog niet commercieel belangrijk geworden, maar dit zou kunnen veranderen aangezien &#8217;s werelds grootste batterijfabrikant heeft aangekondigd in 2023 met de massaproductie van SIB&#8217;s te beginnen. De technologie wordt niet genoemd in een rapport van de United States Energy Information Administration over technologie\u00ebn voor batterijopslag. Bovendien gebruiken geen elektrische voertuigen natrium-ion batterijen&#8230; tot dusver.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-182b3a9 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"182b3a9\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-455868b\" data-id=\"455868b\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bff7462 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bff7462\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>Geschiedenis<\/h2><p>De ontwikkeling van natrium-ion batterijen vond plaats in de jaren 1970 en begin jaren 1980. Tegen de jaren 1990 hadden lithium-ion batterijen echter een grotere commerci\u00eble belofte, waardoor de belangstelling voor natrium-ion batterijen afnam. In het begin van de jaren 2010 kenden natrium-ion batterijen een heropleving, grotendeels gedreven door de stijgende kosten van lithium-ion batterij grondstoffen.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-6cd7ea5 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"6cd7ea5\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-0b4dd04\" data-id=\"0b4dd04\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a08ef98 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a08ef98\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><strong>Werkingsprincipe<\/strong><\/h2><p>SIB-cellen bestaan uit een kathode op basis van een natriumhoudend materiaal, een anode (niet noodzakelijk een op natrium gebaseerd materiaal) en een vloeibare elektrolyt met gedissocieerde natriumzouten in polaire protische of aprotische oplosmiddelen. Tijdens het opladen verplaatsen natriumionen zich van de kathode naar de anode, terwijl elektronen zich door het externe circuit verplaatsen. Tijdens het ontladen vindt het omgekeerde proces plaats.  <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-6e80a6f elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"6e80a6f\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-9e45808\" data-id=\"9e45808\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-e9487e3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"e9487e3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2><strong>Materialen (Anoden, Kathoden &amp; Elektrolyt)<\/strong><\/h2><p>Vanwege de fysische en elektrochemische eigenschappen van natrium zijn voor SIBs andere materialen nodig dan voor LIBs.<\/p><h3><strong>Anodes<\/strong><\/h3><p>SIB&#8217;s maken gebruik van hard koolstof, een ongeordend koolstofmateriaal dat bestaat uit een niet-kristallijn en amorf koolstof. Het vermogen van hard koolstof om natrium te absorberen werd ontdekt in 2000. Deze anode bleek 300 mAh\/g te leveren met een hellend potentiaalprofiel boven \u20530,15 V <g id=\"gid_0\">vs<\/g> Na\/Na<g id=\"gid_1\">+<\/g>. Zij is goed voor ongeveer de helft van de capaciteit en een vlak potentieel profiel (een potentieel plateau) onder \u20530,15 V <g id=\"gid_2\">vs<\/g> Na\/Na<g id=\"gid_3\">+<\/g>. Grafietanoden voor LIB&#8217;s bieden typische capaciteiten van 300-360 mAh\/g. De eerste natrium-ioncel met hard koolstof werd in 2003 gedemonstreerd en vertoonde een gemiddelde spanning van 3,7 V tijdens de ontlading. Hard koolstof geniet de voorkeur vanwege de uitstekende combinatie van capaciteit, (lagere) werkpotentialen en cyclusstabiliteit.      <\/p><h3><strong>Cathoden<\/strong><\/h3><p>Natrium-ion-cathoden slaan natrium op via intercalatie. Vanwege hun hoge tapdichtheid, hoge werkingspotenti\u00eblen en hoge capaciteiten hebben kathoden op basis van natrium overgangsmetaaloxiden de meeste aandacht gekregen. Om de kosten laag te houden, wordt bij het onderzoek geprobeerd kostbare elementen zoals Co, Cr, Ni of V tot een minimum te beperken. Een P2-type Na <g id=\"gid_0\">2\/3<\/g> Fe <g id=\"gid_1\">1\/2<\/g> Mn <g id=\"gid_2\">1\/2<\/g> O<g id=\"gid_3\">2<\/g>-oxide uit aarde-overvloedige Fe- en Mn-bronnen kan 190 mAh\/g opslaan bij een gemiddelde ontlaadspanning van 2,75 V <g id=\"gid_4\">vs<\/g> Na\/Na<g id=\"gid_5\">+<\/g> met gebruikmaking van het redoxkoppel Fe <g id=\"gid_6\">3+\/4+<\/g> &#8211; gelijk aan of beter dan commerci\u00eble lithium-ion-kathoden zoals LiFePO<g id=\"gid_7\">4<\/g> of LiMn <g id=\"gid_8\">2<\/g> O <g id=\"gid_9\">4<\/g>. Het natriumtekort verminderde echter de energiedichtheid. Er werden aanzienlijke inspanningen geleverd om Na-rijkere oxiden te ontwikkelen. Met koper gesubstitueerde Na <g id=\"gid_10\">0,67<\/g> Ni <g id=\"gid_11\">0,3-x<\/g> Cu <g id=\"gid_12\">x<\/g> Mn <g id=\"gid_13\">0,7<\/g> O<g id=\"gid_14\">2<\/g>-kathodematerialen vertoonden een hoge omkeerbare capaciteit met een beter capaciteitsbehoud. In tegenstelling tot de kopervrije Na <g id=\"gid_15\">0,67<\/g> Ni <g id=\"gid_16\">0,3-x<\/g> Cu <g id=\"gid_17\">x<\/g> Mn <g id=\"gid_18\">0,7<\/g> O<g id=\"gid_19\">2<\/g>-elektrode leveren de geprepareerde Cu-gesubstitueerde kathoden een betere natriumopslag.       <\/p><p>Er is ook onderzoek gedaan naar cathoden op basis van polyanionen. Dergelijke cathoden bieden een lagere tapdichtheid, waardoor de energiedichtheid lager is vanwege het volumineuze anion. Dit kan worden gecompenseerd door de sterkere covalente binding van het poly-anion, dat een positief effect heeft op de levensduur en de veiligheid. Van de cathoden op basis van poly-anionen hebben natriumvanadiumfosfaat en fluorfosfaat een uitstekende cyclusstabiliteit laten zien en in het laatste geval een aanvaardbaar hoge capaciteit (\u2053120 mAh\/g) bij hoge gemiddelde ontlaadspanningen (\u20533,6 V <g id=\"gid_0\">vs<\/g> Na\/Na<g id=\"gid_1\">+<\/g>).   <\/p><h3><strong>Elektrolyten<\/strong><\/h3><p>Natrium-ion batterijen kunnen vloeibare en niet-vloeibare elektrolyten gebruiken. De beperkte elektrochemische stabiliteit van water leidt tot lagere spanningen en een beperkte energiedichtheid. Niet-vloeibare carbonaatesters polaire aprotische oplosmiddelen vergroten het spanningsbereik. Hiertoe behoren ethyleencarbonaat, dimethylcarbonaat, diethylcarbonaat en propyleencarbonaat. De meest gebruikte niet-vloeibare elektrolyt gebruikt natriumhexafluorofosfaat als zout dat wordt opgelost in een mengsel van deze oplosmiddelen. Vergeleken met lithium-ion batterijen zijn natrium-ion batterijen iets goedkoper, hebben ze een iets lagere energiedichtheid, betere veiligheidskenmerken en een vergelijkbare vermogensafgifte. <\/p><p>In de onderstaande tabel wordt vergeleken hoe NIB&#8217;s in het algemeen presteren ten opzichte van de twee gevestigde oplaadbare batterijtechnologie\u00ebn die momenteel op de markt zijn: de lithium-ion batterij en de oplaadbare loodzuur batterij.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section
