The position we are looking for:
Due to the retirement of our current buyer, we are looking for an experienced buyer to make a difference in our supply chain. In this role, you will ensure that we purchase the right materials and services at the best terms, at the right time. You are the link between suppliers and our production department where you directly contribute to our business results.
Your duties
You will be responsible for purchasing raw materials (think cutting, semi-finished products in stainless steel and other alloys), critical components and services. On a daily basis you will work on:
- Placing and following up on purchase orders, ensuring that they are delivered on time and meet our requirements. For this we use the ERP package Isah.
- Negotiate prices, delivery times and contract terms with suppliers
- Searching for new suppliers and evaluating their capabilities
- Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers
- Translate production schedules into purchasing needs
- Collaborate on cost reductions and process improvements
- Monitor inventory levels in collaboration with planning and production
- Ensuring that purchased materials meet our technical specifications and quality requirements
- Contributing to our sustainability goals
What is your profile?
You have at least 3 years of experience in a similar procurement role, ideally within the manufacturing industry. You know the hands-on dynamics of manufacturing environments and know the importance of timing and quality.
Furthermore, you preferably possess:
- A completed college education (Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering or similar)
- Strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen
- A proactive work attitude and solution-oriented thinking skills
- Good English in word and writing; other languages are nice to have
- Affinity with technical products and materials (technically savvy)
