Fraud Blocker Multiprop – Floating Crust Layer Solution for Biogas Digesters | Jongia Mixing Technology

Multiprop Mixer

PROCESS: Liquid mixing, crust-layer breaking and destratification, homogenising, prevention of sedimentation in (biogas) digesters and fermenters

TYPE OF PRODUCT: Manure, energy crops, agricultural and food waste, sewage and industrial sludge, organic fraction of municipal waste, co-substrates and other fermentable biomass

APPLICATIONS: Breaking up and pushing back floating crust layers, keeping digester contents in motion to prevent settling, homogenising substrate in anaerobic digesters, top-mounted mixing in the freeboard space, deployment alongside Side Entry mixers or as multiple units distributed across the tank diameter

Two metal auger-style mixers are installed diagonally inside a large, upright, gray cylindrical tank. Each mixer is mounted at an angle through the tank’s upper wall, with orange motors attached on top. The tank interior is empty and well-lit.

Multiprop Mixer for Biogas Industry

Discover Jongia’s Multiprop — a screw and propeller combined in a single unit. The oversized screw breaks up and pushes the floating crust layer back into the tank, while the propeller keeps the contents in motion to prevent settling.

Use the Multiprop together with Side Entry mixers, or deploy multiple Multiprops distributed across the tank diameter. The Hydrofoil mixing element is used.

Manufactured entirely in stainless steel in Leeuwarden, the Multiprop is available in a range of diameters and lengths

It is mounted on top of the tank wall, with a gas-tight shaft seal that prevents any gas loss — positioned in the freeboard space of the tank. The drive unit is located outside the tank.

Inspection and maintenance are straightforward, with no risk of gas or liquid leakage. The bearing housing supports the entire shaft, eliminating the need for a bottom bearing.

There are no submerged sealing components, meaning no underwater inspection is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What problem does the Multiprop solve?

It addresses floating crust layers in biogas digesters. Many other approaches have been tried and repeatedly failed; the Multiprop is designed to break up the crust layer and push it back into the tank.

It combines a screw and a propeller in a single unit. The oversized screw breaks up and pushes the floating crust layer back into the tank, while the propeller keeps the contents in motion to prevent settling.

It is mounted on top of the tank wall and positioned in the freeboard space of the tank, with the drive unit located outside the tank. A gas-tight shaft seal prevents any gas loss.

Yes. It can be used together with Side Entry mixers, or multiple Multiprops can be deployed distributed across the tank diameter.

Inspection and maintenance are straightforward, with no risk of gas or liquid leakage. The bearing housing supports the entire shaft, so no bottom bearing is needed, and because there are no submerged sealing components, no underwater inspection is required.
