Mixing from the bottom up: Jongia’s Magnetic Bottom Mixer type JMB

Tight space around the tank, a low liquid level and no room for leakage? Then the bottom of the tank may be the best place for your mixer. Jongia’s Magnetic Bottom Mixer type JMB is built for exactly that position.

The JMB is the bottom entry version of the Magitator, the magnetic mixer that Jongia Mixing Technology builds for the food, pharma and chemical industries. Within our range of bottom entry agitators it belongs to the light duty class: compact units that keep low-viscosity fluids homogeneous in smaller tanks, for example in dairy, vegetable oil or juice storage.

How does it work?

The JMB uses a simple principle: the motor drives the impeller through a magnetic coupling. Because no rotary seal is needed, the tank remains hermetically closed and the mixer is practically maintenance-free. The open design of the mixing head creates an optimum flow for efficient mixing and easy cleaning. Additives and solids can be mixed into the fluid by injecting them into the zone around the mixing head. Our Magitator tutorial shows the unit being assembled and in operation.

Key benefits

  • Mixes the entire tank content – even at a low level, as long as the impeller stays submerged
  • Zero leakage – a closed system with zero emission
  • Hygienic by design – meets CIP and SIP requirements according to EHEDG and FDA/EC 1935/2004 guidelines
  • Fits narrow spaces – and stays easy to reach
  • Saves height – an angled gearbox keeps the unit compact when the tank bottom is close to the floor

Built for your process

As standard, the JMB has a 40 Nm magnet and runs on an electric motor of 1.1 to 3 kW; a 60 Nm magnet is also available. It handles fluids up to around 800 mPa·s. Our light duty bottom entry agitators are designed for tanks up to 10 bar g and temperatures from −20 °C to 150 °C. Wetted parts are available in stainless steel 304 or 316L, (Super) Duplex, Hastelloy C4 or C2000 and titanium grade 2 or 7, ground to Ra < 0.4 µm, hand-polished to Ra < 0.2 µm or electropolished. We supply motors and gearboxes of any brand, including explosion-proof motors for ATEX zones 1 and 2. The Magitator has a standard design, but we adapt it to your process when needed.

Need a larger magnetic mixer?

Then the side entry Magitator (JMW) is the next step. It offers more capacity, with motors up to 11 kW.
