On Thursday, June 22, Jongia, through the staff association, organized a Kaats-clinic on the holy grass of It Sjûkelân in Franeker. Under the guidance of the experienced player Jan Tymen Eisma we were introduced to this beautiful sport. Both the technique and the rules of Kaatsen were carefully explained to us, so that the whole team could practice for the tournament that took place later that day.
The matches were played according to a knockdown system with quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final, where the competition sometimes became very intense. In the end the team of Bart, Gerben and Tom was crowned the winner and they received the wreath and the Jongia challenge trophy.
The day ended with a fantastic dinner at De Valk in Franeker, where the “all you can eat” system provided the necessary challenges. Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal and returned home satisfied.
Our sincere thanks go to Jan Tymen and the staff association for organizing this successful clinic! It was a great experience for all of us and we look forward to more events like this in the future.
